About the climb
The climb to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo starts at Lake Misurina in the Dolomites, in the province of Belluno, northern Italy. It is the shortest climb on this list: 7.4 km from 1749 m to 2285 m, 583 m of climbing at 7.3% on average.
That average is misleading. The first kilometre is gentle, a 500 m ramp at 12% follows, and then the road runs flat and even downhill for about 1.5 km. Almost all the height is gained in the last 3.5 km, where every 500 m averages 10 to 14% and the steepest 200 m on our track reaches 16.3%. In other words, this is a short, steep climb with a long run-in.
Pacing tip: the calculator gives 41 min at 3.0 W/kg for a 75 kg rider and 8 kg bike. Keep the early part easy, and start the final 3.5 km at your target power rather than above it: there is no easier section afterwards.

Real climbs take longer when you start too hard, stop, or ride into a headwind. Treat the number as the pace to aim for, not a promise.
