About the Creator
WattLog.pro is a platform for analyzing power-based cycling training — both indoors and outdoors. It was created for people who want to consciously understand their numbers and draw useful conclusions from them, rather than just collecting empty data.
Why WattLog.pro was created
The beginnings of the project coincided with my first steps in cycling. One winter, while spinning on a trainer with the Zwift app, my heart rate monitor (HRM) strap stopped working. It was a difficult moment in my life – I was slowly getting back into shape, struggling with being overweight and depression.
I didn't want to blindly spend money on new gear. My engineering nature and the desire to find the source of the problem spoke up. I built a simple app to check what data was actually coming from the sensor. After a few evenings of analyzing and "tilting at windmills," the puzzle was solved: the electrode in the strap had failed, not the battery or electronics.
Over time, training with the new strap, I started asking myself more questions. Were my mood swings another symptom of returning depression, or perhaps just the effect of overtraining? I started with an FTP of just 120 W. Thanks to 3-4 workouts a week, proper hydration, and recovery, my body was coping better and better, and the physical load was decreasing. Along with my physical progress, the project itself grew. I realized that the tool which helped me structure my own process could also support others. That is exactly how WattLog.pro was born.
I believe in creating minimalist, barrier-free software, which is why my goal is a platform with no hidden fees and no intrusive subscriptions. I am building a tool that I myself want to use every day.
Who is behind it
Hi, my name is Andrzej. I am a software engineer, and privately – a very amateur cyclist who for years dreamed of having his own road bike. Today, my workouts mainly take place in the quiet of my home on an indoor trainer, although I also happily ride outdoors on my long-desired road and gravel bike.
I am developing WattLog.pro as a solo project. This model allows me to maintain complete independence, control the direction of development, and continuously adapt the app to both my own needs and the voice of the community.
History
- 2021 — My first gravel bike and a new indoor trainer. I take my first steps (and kilometers) in the virtual world of Zwift.
- 2022 — An intensive winter season on the trainer. In retrospect, I see that I paid for it with unconscious overtraining.
- 2023 — Exacerbation of illness symptoms and a nervous breakdown. Sinking into sadness, causing me to forget what always brought me joy. The bike is put away.
- 2026 — Return to the saddle. Consistent rebuilding of physical and mental fitness, and at the same time, the actual shaping of the WattLog.pro project.
Where I am heading
I want to continuously develop WattLog.pro, adding support for new devices and features that help in conscious training. I also care about building an engaged community where we can exchange knowledge and experiences. My goal is simple: to create an intuitive, barrier-free tool that will support every cyclist – regardless of whether they are just starting their adventure or fighting for fractions of watts.
