About the climb

The Stelvio from Prato allo Stelvio climbs from the Vinschgau valley in South Tyrol, northern Italy. At 25.1 km and 1842 m of climbing it is the longest and biggest climb on this list, rising from 910 m to 2751 m, the highest finish here, at 7.3% on average.

The first 2.5 km are gentle, at 1 to 4%. Up to about 11 km the road mixes 4 to 9% sections with a few easier ones. Then the climb changes character: from 11.5 km, where the steepest 500 m reaches 11%, the gradient stays between 7 and 10% almost without a break for the next 13 km, all the way to the last few hundred metres. The steepest 200 m on our track is 14.1%.

Pacing tip: at 3.0 W/kg a 75 kg rider is out for 2 h 07 min. Treat the first 11 km as a warm-up, and only commit to your full target power once the long 7 to 10% section begins.
