About the climb
This climb runs from Heiligenblut in Carinthia, Austria, up the southern side of the Großglockner High Alpine Road to the Hochtor at 2510 m. It starts at 1307 m and covers 15.1 km with 1253 m of climbing at 7.9% on average.
The profile has two climbs with a dip between them. The first 6 km are steep and steady, at 6 to 12%. Around 6 km the gradient drops to 4%, and then the road loses a little height over the next 1.5 km. From about 8 km to the top it climbs at 7 to 11% almost without a break, a 7 km block averaging over 9%. The steepest 200 m on our track reaches 15.4%, and only the last few metres level out.
Pacing tip: the calculator gives 1 h 26 min at 3.0 W/kg for a 75 kg rider. Use the dip to recover rather than to push, because the second half is the longer one.

Real climbs take longer when you start too hard, stop, or ride into a headwind. Treat the number as the pace to aim for, not a promise.
