How to Install Favero Assioma Power Meter Pedals — a Step-by-Step Guide

Bought your first Favero Assioma power meter pedals and wondering how to fit them correctly? You're in the right place. Correct installation matters not only for safety but above all for measurement accuracy. The process is simple, but it needs attention to a few key details.

How to install Favero Assioma power meter pedals — a step-by-step guide

What do you need for installation?

Before you start, make sure you have to hand:

Installation step by step

Step 1: Prepare the cranks

Unscrew your old pedals. Remember that the left pedal has a reverse thread — you unscrew it clockwise. The right pedal unscrews the standard way, counter-clockwise. Once the old pedals are off, thoroughly clean the threads in the crank arms with a cloth.

Step 2: Grease and washers

Apply a thin layer of grease to the threads of both Assioma pedals. This is an absolutely essential step that will make future removal easier and prevent creaking. Favero includes special washers in the kit. Use one washer on each side. It's necessary so the power sensor doesn't rest directly against the crank arm, which could interfere with the measurement.

Step 3: Threading the pedals in

Note the markings on the pedal axles: "R" (Right) for the right side and "L" (Left) for the left. Start threading the pedals in by hand to avoid damaging the thread.

Step 4: Tightening with a torque wrench

This is the most important moment for measurement precision. Use a torque wrench and tighten both pedals to the force recommended by the manufacturer, which is 30–40 Nm. Too loose or too tight can affect the accuracy of the power readings.

First start-up and calibration

Once the pedals are fitted, you need to activate and calibrate them.

  1. Activation: connect the pedals to the charger, or turn the crank a few times to "wake" them. Then activate them in the Favero Assioma app.
  2. Setting the crank length: in the app or on your head unit, enter the exact length of your crank arms (e.g. 172.5 mm). This is essential for calculating power correctly.
  3. Calibration (zeroing): before every ride, with the bike level, run a calibration (a "zero offset") from your head unit or the app. This zeroes the sensors and ensures accuracy in the current temperature conditions.

Done! Your Assioma pedals are ready to precisely measure every watt you generate. Remember to calibrate regularly before riding, so you can trust the data.
